Cardio Boxing has been around for several years. It is still very popular. And, for a very good reason. Cardio Boxing is a calorie burning machine!
First, you will not get hit in the head with Cardio Boxing. The closest comparison between Cardio Boxing and Real contact Boxing is: "shadow boxing."
Secondly, Cardio Boxing does not teach you how to box. However, you will duplicate some of the same motions as a regular boxer. Proper form and muscle memory could help you defend yourself. You just have to keep in mind that the primary purpose of Cardio Boxing is increasing your stamina and fitness.
Thirdly, some people use Cardio Boxing as a gateway to other endeavors. If you are interested in pursuing cardio kickboxing, martial arts, or actual boxing, Cardio Boxing maybe a good way to start out if you are not presently physically fit.
