In a recent Wall Street Journal article titled: "When your boss makes you pay for being fat" it reports how many employers are planning on making employees pay as much as $1,000 extra starting next year if they are overweight, or fit other high-risk health groups such as smoking. Other companies will instead reward employees with money for losing weight or meeting other determined guidelines of health. Many of these changes are due to the sharp rise in healthcare costs and the impending implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
